Exploring Services Science
This book contains the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Exploring Service Science (IESS), held in Bucharest, Romania, in May 2016. Service science constitutes an interdisciplinary approach to systematic innovation in service systems, integrating managerial, social, legal, and engineering aspects to address the theoretical and practical challenges of the service industry and its economy. The 45 full papers and 13 short papers accepted for IESS were selected from 119 submissions. The papers consider the topics service exploration theories and processes; modeling service requirements and management of business processes; value co-creation through knowledge management and user-centric services; service design methodologies and patterns; service innovation and strategy; IT-based service engineering; servitization in sustainable manufacturing; product-service systems; business software services and data-driven service design; web service design and service-oriented agents; IoT and mobile apps for public transport service management; e-health services and medical data interoperability; and service and IT-oriented learning and education systems.
Managing Electronic Services
Electronic Service Management is an emerging concept. It covers the organisational, economic technical and user issues involved when integrating the development of electronic services. This is particularly important (and more complicated) within public sector organisations. Managing Electronic Services provides an easy to read and practical guide to portal-electronic services development in the public sector. The book takes an organisational perspective asking 'How do you make things work in your organisation and in relation to your customers or users?' By integrating the managerial, technical and economic issues, the authors can put them into context with the need to understand user requirements and expectations. Lots of examples are provided, giving tips on how to avoid many of the pitfalls you might meet along the way, and showing you how to diagnose potential problems and find ways of dealing with them effectively.
Web Services in Finance
Many times, web services standards do not explicitly address core issues specific to the financial industrywhich makes it difficult to implement standards-compliant systems. But Web Services in Finance will bridge the gap in standards awareness. And you will acquire the skills to develop secure applications quickly. If you are a .NET or J2EE developer working in the financial industry, currently migrating applications to become Web services, or writing new Web services, then this book is your ideal companion! The authors thoroughly discuss crucial topics like data representation, messaging, security, privacy, management, monitoring, and more. What's more: the provided examples and API reviews will help you swiftly reach your goals.
Transforming Enterprise Cloud Services
The broad scope of Cloud Computing is creating a technology, business, sociolo- cal, and economic renaissance. It delivers the promise of making services available quickly with rather little effort. Cloud Computing allows almost anyone, anywhere, at anytime to interact with these service offerings. Cloud Computing creates a unique opportunity for its users that allows anyone with an idea to have a chance to deliver it to a mass market base. As Cloud Computing continues to evolve and penetrate different industries, it is inevitable that the scope and definition of Cloud Computing becomes very subjective, based on providersâ and customersâ persp- tive of applications. For instance, Information Technology (IT) professionals p- ceive a Cloud as an unlimited, on-demand, flexible computing fabric that is always available to support their needs. Cloud users experience Cloud services as virtual, off-premise applications provided by Cloud service providers. To an end user, a p- vider offering a set of services or applications in the Cloud can manage these off- ings remotely. Despite these discrepancies, there is a general consensus that Cloud Computing includes technology that uses the Internet and collaborated servers to integrate data, applications, and computing resources. With proper Cloud access, such technology allows consumers and businesses to access their personal files on any computer without having to install special tools. Cloud Computing facilitates efficient operations and management of comp- ing technologies by federating storage, memory, processing, and bandwidth.
